Birmingham Zine Festival. Go Soak up the Atmosphere.

October 10, 2012

Ever thought about making your own comics, but didn’t know how or just wanted to meet people who work in the Indie Zine sector? Then get down to the Birmingham Zine Festival this weekend and get some face to face time and hands on experience. If nothing else, go there and take in the atmosphere.

I asked Lizz Lunney, one of the organisers (whose interview will be coming up in a few weeks on the blog), about the Festival.

Birmingham Zine Festival 2011 ready to go

What is the Birmingham Zine Festival?

BZF is festival of independent events, creating an outlet for small press and independent publishers to showcase their work. Our goal is to make self published and DIY zine-making accessible, highlighting the talents of self-published artists, and giving independent artists a chance to interact, and swap skills through tabling, community events, and workshops.

Tables stacked with all sorts of goodies.

What can I expect if I go there?

Our main event is the Independent Publishing Fair which is on October 13th at Sidewalk on Hurst Street but we also have lots of other exciting things happening. Panel talks with comic artists, animation showings from the Brothers McLeod,  screen-printing workshop with Get A Grip (book your place in advance on our website!), badge making, zine in a day workshop with Footprint, film screenings by Kino 10 and an awesome after show party with Misty’s Big Adventure playing! And more!

The full line up is on our site
